Tonight, I went to the family night of a childhood classmate who past away this past weekend.
I thought a few things:
1) We were in first grade together. Now, we're adults. Once you meet someone, you are somehow always connected.
2) There were people in line. Parents of students. People I've had to work with outside of school. People I attend celebrations with. People I chat with at Chik-Fil-A. A community is a beautiful thing. I applaud the community for being present during thick and thin.
3) Death is never easy.
4) The law enforcement brotherhood is something remarkable. The intangible bonds are visibly tangible.
5) Faith is very comforting during these times.
Moral of the Story: I know it meant so much to me all the people who shared comforting wishes when Grams went to Heaven, I pray the same love was felt by the family tonight.
