A Good Friend and a Glass of Wine

Long distance relationships work. Ellen is in DC. We take the time to call each other, text, video chat, gchat, and visit (since Cpep is conveniently a pitstop between her hometown and DC). We caught up on each others' lives this morning. The highs and the lows. Don't you love when you can be yourself with someone? When they won't judge?

I got up extra early this morning to get a training run in before the 8:30 breakfast call at Chik-Fil-A with Momma, Aunt Pagie, and Daddy. For years, I missed out on these simple, yet cherishing moments. My goal is to savor them while I'm in Cpep. How does this relate to Ellen? She called me out. Straight up. How blessed am I to be able to share these moments? She has not shared a moment like this since January. I do love them. And, try to attend everyone even if it means waking up at 6:30 on a Saturday.

Here's to Ellen for answering my phone every 5 minutes for an hour this afternoon as I maneuvered through feelings of confusion offset by understanding.

Moral of the Story: Sometimes, you just need a good friend and a glass of wine.

Side Note:
At one of my students' softball games today she hit the ball into the outfield. One of the girls on the team: "Man, she got her ball to the grass! That's so far!"
