I do so solemnly swear that I love my Momma...
Today, we had a big day...Momma was going to join me on a 'somewhat-spontaneous' trip to Cville for Christmas shopping. 'Somewhat-spontaneous' because it qualified as spontaneous for Momma because she had 24-hour notice, non-spontaneous for me because I had 24-hour notice.
Momma and I are so much alike, yet so different...
- Meeting spot was at church at 10:30...I was ready at 10:30...she was still at the breakfast place and I had to go pick her up...now, it's 10:45.
- She wants to plan every place where we're going and thinks we can 'parallel shop.' My plan is let's kill 2 birds with one stone...I'll go where I need to, you go where you need to.
- The 'Christmas purse' (a hipster) made it's annual appearance. She holds onto it for dear life as she is let out in public outside the county line. As in, it didn't even come off while I was driving on 29.
- We're in the car. Her Faith Hill Christmas CD isn't working. She takes it out and declares "she never was good anyway" on this CD. I quickly respond that she never turned the volume up. And, then Faith graces the rest of our road trip.
- Ann Taylor LOFT: I'm looking at the Sale rack. She's eyeing the 'statement jewelry.' I know Santa is bringing me something sparkly.
- Momma: I'll buy and give you these (LOFT) earrings. If you put them in immediately." Me: "Deal." (and, then I suckered a pair of sale khaki pants out of Santa's loot tonight as compensation for the pain I went through to re-pierce an ear).
- We agree to meet at Eddie Bauer at 2:30. It's 3:00 and no sight of Lynne around.
- Walking into the mall, Momma walks completely in the wrong direction of Belk where she demanded to go...I parked at the Belk entrance to help her out.
- Momma doesn't have credit cards and doesn't know how to use one. I don't know how to use cash.
Moral of the Story: "Like mother, like daughter"~Chinese Proverb...So, perhaps I need to create my own proverb..."Somewhat-like mother, somewhat-like
daughter."
