It started as a small snowball at 5:30 AM when I should not have checked work email before going to school. Then, the snowball got bigger. And bigger. And bigger.
While I tend to try to be proactive, today I could only be reactive.
I tried to psychologically rein it back in. It didn't matter.
By the end of the day, it was a boulder. I couldn't stop it. I could only slightly redirect it's path.
| Alli's Sweet Treat...ironic that they look like snowballs? |
1) Catching Alli in the halls at her school. I don't get to see her enough. She's real, down to Earth, and always has a smile on her face. Bonus: she has oreo ball creations. I usually 'see' her through fbook and work IM.
2) Getting to talk face-to-face rather than by IM to a player's/YL's mom.
3) Passing my ex-mentor/ex-team leader on Blue Ridge. I was zoned out. But, she was too excited for the driveby that both hands went in the air.
4) Giving Linda a hug in person, rather than typing 'hug' on the pc.
I'm thankful for IM so that I can chat and have my day brightened by these folks. But, I like them even more in person!
Moral of the Story: Technology cannot nor should not replace interpersonal communication-grins, eyebrow raises, hugs, happiness.
