At recess:
Me: You have a crush?
Child: Yes, but please don't blab.
Me: Why do you like her?
Child: She has 4 eyes.
Me: What do you like about her glasses? the color? are they shiny?
Child: I love her because I love that when I look at her I see myself in he glasses.
On the lax bus:
Mrs. Allen: whispering We're lost.
Me: pulls up location on mapquest...we are surrounded by water on a pennisula Yes, we are.
5 mins later...
Mrs. Allen is out at the back yelling at me as I hang out the open bus door telling the bus driver what Mrs. Allen says.
In the classroom:
Overhearing a small group of students...
Student A: We should plan a party for Ms. R.
Student B: A surprise party!
Student C: Shhh! Whisper you don't want her to hear.
Student A: When is her birthday?
Student B: Ask her.
Student A yelling: Ms. R, when is your birthday?
Ms. R: March 25.
Student A whispering: March 25. We'll have to do it on Thursday because we don't have school on Friday.
Student B: Ok.
Student A: We can all bring something.
Student B: We have to have a cake.
Student C: But Ms. R isn't eating sweets. Remember? She's trying to Drop It!
Student A: We must tell the class.
Student A: Ms. R can I plug your ears? I need to tell the class something.
Ms. R: Ok, but be gentle.
Student A: grabs my head, dislocates my neck...Everybody we are having a surprise party for Ms. R! he yells
But, I know nothing and will act fully surprised.
Moral of the Story: Thank goodness for words and the laughter they give us.
