Goals for the Summer

I started this blog as a means to scrapbook my life journey post-UVA.  It has definitely fulfilled that purpose and more.

It's time for...drumroll...my Summer 2011 goals. I'm shooting myself in the foot.

I looked back at Summer 2010 to see how I did. I used my iPhone more, read more, and got more definition in my arms (which I have lost).

I accomplished ALL 3 goals.

Well for Summer 2011, I'm going to step it up a notch and have 3 goals...that's right the exact same number, but more indepth.

These goals are harder and will take time so that they are life-styling changes.

Is this what happens when you get older?

So, here goes.

#1) I want to read more. 20 books to be exact.
#2) I want to lose weight. 20 pounds to be exact.
#3) I want to learn to cook. 20 different things to be exact.

Goals must be measurable.

All make me want to barf, break out in goosebumps, and want to go grab chocolate or a glass of Pinot.

I think they go hand in hand. As long as I read more, then I can't be eating at the same time, right? Or can I?  Or if I cook then I won't eat? Baha. I like to multitask.

I always share with my students and players that we 'must set ourselves up for success.'

Here's what I've done to be prepared. Preparation is key.

#1) I have charged Blue Willow-the Kindle.  I have pre-ordered to books in the Linda Lael Miller series that I absolutely adore and enjoy.
#2) I have signed up through the American Cancer Society's Choose You program to lose 20 lbs. I check in every week. If I don't make my goal, $10 is donated to ACS. Plus, the website is a plethora of support and resources for women who need to put themselves first and then help others. Very empowering.
#3) I bought a bag of frozen fruit. For some reason, I think this means I've automatically lost 20 lbs. And, can cook something with this?

I know this will be challenging. Email me Kindergarten-friendly recipes.

I'll keep you updated every month.
