SOL?

I think not...it's that marvelous time of year. SOL testing time...

8 to 9 year olds are plopped in front of a computer and expected to perform with extreme focus for hours...

Most people hate on the SOLs...I do not.

Granted there may be some things I'd change about the format or the underlying statistics of them, but overall I like knowing and having the expectations of knowledge my kids should understand.

It gives you a goal, then you go after it...at all costs, with no excuses.

I relay to my kids that it's like the Championship Game. We've had many different coaches helping us on our weaknesses. We've been practicing all our skills. Now, it's time to show up and try our best.

On a personal note, it's really fun walking around for 4 hours. I find it very peaceful.

There is background music of 'We Will Rock You' playing in the morning and before a test.

Go big or go home is one of my adopted life mottos.

Moral of the Story: We're not SOL.
