When there's nothing to clean? straighten up? transport? email? call? text? read? make? create? do? save?bake?...(sing to tune of Dynamite-->) ...It goes on and on and on...
Well, I think that's one of the beautiful things about the beach at this time in my life.
I'm slightly past the infatuation of spending hours making a moat around my brother's and my sand castle or boogie-boarding until dusk. And, I def don't have any lil tikes running around in diapers.
So, I have found there are options for the beach:
- People watch-Sunglasses are a must. By the end of the day, Momma and I have pieced together the lives of all surrounding families (ok, and even those not near).
- Have deep conversations with your Mom,
Dad, and Brother. - R-E-A-D...but, you need breaks at times.
- Think. Uninterrupted is the key word.
So, here are some thoughts I had today while shellacked in SPF and digging my toes in the sand.
- Who knew they made waterproof metal detectors?
- The umbrella may have been one of God's top 10 gifts to man.
- I do not like sand on my towel. I do not like sand on my towel. It may be the only thing that has provoked temper tantrums from me in the past decade. I do not like sand on my towel. Sam I am.
- Moosetracks Ice Cream. I ate you for lunch. I want you for my last meal here on Earth.
- Jaws-Raise your hand if you have a brother who runs to the beach only to say "This looks like the scene out of Jaws. Northern beach. People having fun. Blissful day." Before I could comment, he had runaway. I spent the rest of the day peeking at the ocean for a fin.
Moral of the Story: Darn, dinner was amazing. Lime Margarita Wings. Chipotle Calamari. Pulled Pork. Mac and Cheese. Braised Greens. Seared tuna. French Fries. (Note, not all of this was consumed by me, I do not tell a lie.)
