Once upon a day...

I was enjoying this charming view
in the country of Rapp/Culpeper.
Hockey players, parents, a Relay Co-Chair,
Deputies, and a coach were sprinkled about the
24 mile course.

My station's purpose: have participants
safely cross bridge and make sharp right turn.

And, I thought this was going to be the highlight of my day...
trailer crossing the above pictured bridge
.

Until I got a yell from deputy (who I'd befriended), that if I heard sirens it meant a police pursuit was on its way.
Hold on let me check my hearing. He then proceeded to use his cruiser to block the bridge as a trap. And then, asked if I'd like to help with putting out spikes. Come again? I then proceeded to pull a teacher/coach card and ask for clarification on the situation. He then (since we've befriended each other, he grew up in Cpep) asks if I want the politically correct answer or the real answer about the impending slightly dangerous situation. I can guaranatee that I chose the latter. I then was asked to stop texting people as we listened to all the radio chatter (oops, sorry I'd like to prep people for my impending predicament). I then proceeded to pick up the HSers under my charge for 'precautionary' reasons since the suspect fled on foot and there was a search for an injured female.  Also, note that after setting his cruiser up for the 'block,'  I kindly asked where should I be in this 'situation,' his response if it gets to us then "guns will be ablazin.' Sweet, I've always wanted to knock that off my to-do list of life...NOT.

And, then, 2 hours later the peaceful, quaint ride back to the lake.

Moral of the Story: Life never seizes to surprise me. I've completed more triathlons than I can count. And, this will go at the top of the list of most eventful. Although, I never even touched a bike. Funny, isn't that how life usually rolls?
