HOMECOMING-Home Sweet Home

This weekend was homecoming at UVA. This has been circled in Blue and Orange on my mental calendar for over 2 months.

Finally, it arrived. Coming home.

Williams B & B. Christian's Pizza. Downtown. Pashminas for $10. The Flat. Walking dark streets in packs. Laughing. People watching. Catching up. Remembering. Driving through grounds. Commenting on the shortness of dresses. Sleepover chatter. Morning runs. Phineas and Ferb with L. Soccer games. Swings. Blue Mountain Brewery. The girls hanging with the big girls. UVA game. Good Ol' Song. Upsetting the #12 team in the nation. Expanded Bookstore. H's pre-dance gathering at the B & B, YAR, the Lawn at midnight, late night runs to stores, Christina's monkey bread, soccer games, beautiful weather, friends, calling each other out, inside jokes, nostalgia, love, grace.

I'll let the photos and videos from Blacktwig share the weekend.

Moral of the Story: We are Young Alumni. What does that mean? It means that we are navigating the most important waters of our lives. There is no structure. There is no trajectory. There is opportunity. There are knocks. We learn by trying. We go for it, because why not? Few things are absolutes. The absolutes include: God is love, time carries on, the human spirit is resilient, and we are all capable in our own ways.  UVA was the place that pruned and expanded the foundation that other villages built. UVA is how I'll remember my friends.   This weekend, all that UVA is from Cville to running on sidewalks to Arch's to the Williams B & B opened their arms and allowed us shelter, encouragement, and celebration of the life we lived and now live. Thank you.
