Dear August 28th-God Keeps Promises

Dear August 28th,

You were a beautiful day. And, will remain a beautiful day.

I pulled out of my school. I already had 2 missed calls from my Momma.

I knew.

'Grandma has taken a turn for the worse.'

I drove right past the exit for EV, headed towards my family.

I'm so thankful I listened to the whisper of God.

I found my Momma and Aunt sitting outside on a bench.

My Uncle was on his way from having made the trip from Maryland earlier in the day.

The Friday before school started, we received the diagnosis of cancer. Her time with us would be shortened.

The sun shone warmly. The wind blew gently.

Inside was my Grams. My backseat partner for my entire life.

Throughout the past few days, we were all able to visit her.

We were able to share time, tears, and prayers at her bedside.

And, then she went to be with the Lord.

She walked the walk. God keeps promises.

Moral of the Story: My last words to her, 'Enjoy Heaven. You'll be a blessing there just like you were here.'

My 20th Birthday. Grams had a knack for making
anything special.
