Meet your Students & Turtles? Day

I met almost all of my new batch of Smart Cookies today.

I also met Tibbs and Tubbs the baby sea/water turtles.

A new Smart Cookie asked me if he could bring in his 2 turtles. I thought he meant this school year, so I discussed how my students design projects and if he could be creative enough to create one with a turtle character then I'd be good to go.

Oops. It was a good teacher reminder that my interpretation is not always what the student was meaning.

He wanted to bring the 2 turtles in right then. He had them in the car waiting.

So, needless-to-say, we finished the paper work with Tibbs crawling all over me while he held Tubbs.

Moral of the Story: For the next 180 school days, I'll expect the unexpected.
