Another blog from guest blogger, A's Mom.
My pet peeve is people who talk about how "bad" our young people are. I am sure this is something that has gone on since the beginning of civilization. So many wonderful young Olympians! So many wonderful young people--I look at my brother's children, friend's children, A &W, and their friends. After 31 years of teaching middle and high school students, I dare say that 98% of them were wonderful (that doesn't mean they didn't get on my nerves sometimes). The United States and our global community has a lot to be thankful for!!! So congratulations to our Olympians because they have certainly inspired this member of the baby boomer generation!!!!!!!
I don't enjoy watching the actual events of the Olympics-- I enjoy my husband telling me about it--especially the human interest side of some of the participants.
He loves Missy Franklin and her parents.
Not only is she a gold medalist in swimming, but she isn't rushing her life. At 17, she has decided not to go pro and take advantage of million of dollars of endorsements. She wants to finish high school and then swim four years at some lucky college/university. She looks forward to the 2016 Olympics. She didn't feel the need to move to California to train in swimming, but remained in her hometown to be close to her friends. What a balanced young lady!
Gabby's smile lights up the world.
Way to go Gabby Gabby's mom.
Take care and see you tomorrow.
