A True Snow Day

It fell. It blew. It fell. It blew. It pelted. All day. Snow. Big flakes. Small flakes. Pellets. White. Silence. At minimum ten inches graced the ground.

The day was chalk full of eating, watching The Today Show, filling 3 UVA cups 'just in case,' blog reading, Facebook checking, crossing things off my to-do list, sprinting through tire tracks to open my garage before the power flickered off again, watching nature through the window, cleaning, meeting the neighborhood kids at our designated spot and hill, Emily made the hot chocolate for the after sledding/snow-fort-building fun, I brought the brownies, the kiddos brought the laughter, shoveling, recipe reading (don't laugh), watching nature from my stoop, losing power, having an awesome Aunt and Uncle, losing cell service, reading ten magazines, shoveling (did I already mention that?), thinking of how to prevent hyperthermia after 4 hours without power, burrowing in my bed as a result, and blasting the iPAD on shuffle.

The day was a success...simple math.

10 inches of snow + fun + slight productivity (hindered by my expectation on no school tomorrow) + savoring no technology/power + friends/family + safety + food + Today + Wicked Good Moccasins/Candles/Plop = relaxation heaven
The McDonald's cup made me remember my Grams. In the midst of any winter storm, she'd be gently
letting family know that she needed her Diet Coke from McDonald's. I opened my garage from being
at Emily's to find the Diet Coke.

Moral of the Story: They got this winter blast right this time. Perfect timing.
