A Day Trip to Shirley Plantation

The Farmer and I went on a day trip. We went on a day trip to Shirley Plantation in Charles City, Virginia. Shirley Plantation was the first plantation in Virginia. This year, 2013, it celebrated its 400th year of existence.

It was wonderful for many reasons, including:

1. We love being outside. The temps were in the 50s.
2. We love the historical sides of things.
3. We had a picnic. Who doesn't love a picnic?
4. He loved the farming aspect, I loved the decorative aspect.
5. The tour guide was great. 
6. It was nice to escape the hustle and bustle of the season.
