Christmas in a Classroom

Vacation is in full swing...Kat and I are lounging with a glass of wine, tv, and Ellen's dog at Ellen's house (they're out celebrating the birth of her sister, pretty close to Jesus).

Today was packed with gym, getting things ready for me not being at school tomorrow, concerts, art block, tests, crafts, winter holiday presentations, opening gifts from students, prepping for after break, and driving a few hours to Ellen's.

Student gifts:
  • a card with a Christmas tree traced from a cookie cutter
  • a green toy for Banco
  • UVA cups
  • a scarf that one of my kids wears sometimes
  • a hot pink posterboard card with a letter written to me and the recipe for a smoothie
  • $20 gift card to Plow & Hearth
  • a candy cane
  • a candy cane filled with Hershey kisses
  • a massager
  • apple tea
  • a big Hershey kiss
  • a loaf of bread
Moral of the Story: Big or small, used or unused, handmade or store bought, perishable or non-perishable, UVA or VT...I could care less what you give me, but the smile of satisfaction on a child's face of giving something can never be lost.
