100 days...hello Summer!

Phineas and Ferb were a tad off with their 104 days of summer...

Today, at 3:15 when I received my Math SOL scores, marked the beginning of Summer for me.  There are exactly 100 days until Labor Day and I plan on doing something for myself each day. YES!

Unofficially, the beginning of Summer in Culpeper is marked by the Firemen's Carnival which just so happened to be tonight.

I grew up going to Grams' where she fried up chicken and my cousins came down from Maryland. Times have changed, but the Smalltown USA atmosphere hasn't.

It was a beautiful evening. Hot, sweaty, and fun...sounds like summer, right?

Of course, Relay For Life had a float. I personally was happy to be riding rather than walking unlike the 4th of July parade.

I personally was touched when people applauded as we drove by.

Moral of the Story: There's nothing better than ushering in Summer in grand fashion complete with horses in hats, fire engines, friends, and Relay cheers. I savored standing up in sweaty shorts. I know, I'm sure I won't be savoring that in a month. But, yes, hello summer. Big hug. Off to Ellen's family house for the weekend. I know there'll be a big glass of wine awaiting.
