L wanted to me to paint her toenails and fingernails. Having no constraints, she pulled out 2 containers of polish and I even offered to grab T's containers. 3 containers filled with polish. A little girls' dream.
She literally deliberated, justified, and rationalized which colors to pick for 20 minutes.
It starts young, my friends. It wasn't our fault I tell you.
How many of you walk into GAP and taking 9 things into the dressing room only to get 1? Knowing full well the whole time that you would only like that 1 thing.
How many of you open the cabinet/fridge/pantry and just can't decide what to eat? Knowing full well you aren't even hungry.
There's something about making choices from multiple, similar things, that just stops a girl in her tracks. She must begin to weigh the pros and cons, strengths and weaknesses, what do I think? and what will others thing? is this better than the other? is this cheaper?...
It's like BBB or the latest Consumer Reports in a girl's head.
No breaking news here...I'm just as guilty...or thoughtful, I like to think.
Choices are great. They give us freedom. Yet, too many can be sensory overload.
And, of course, I know this from the classroom...when magically I make it appear to be 3 choices when they all are the same version of the same thing.
Moral of the Story: Cuteness can usually override many situations.
#1) While cuddling in to watch the Women's World Cup...
Me: G, I love you.
G: I love you, too.
Me: L, I love you.
no response...1 minute later...
L: holds up her notebook and it says "I love you, too.".
