Relay For Life of Culpeper is #6 in the nation...

You read that right...

We had our 2012 Kick-off Celebration tonight.

We switched it up tonight. We held it Downtown at my uncle's building. The positive comments flowed and the 'OOs and Awws' could be heard.

We turned the aesthetically pleasing building into Relay Grand Central.

So many people stopped by before the meeting just because of the signs and decorations. The location was great.

It was a great atmosphere for our Relay Expo. All the committees presented their aspect of Relay around the theme of "All I want for Christmas is...a cure" in a meandering way.

Team captains, friends, family, my principal, the superintendent of CCPS, and other proud supporters were on hand.

Table themes ranged from the Grinch theme to The Christmas Story (Alex dressed as Ralph while Mandy was the pink bunny) to I believe...

I'll let the pictures speak.

Alrighty, I'll let some words speak. We had a lot of great things to celebrate from our 2011 year of Relay.

$204,000 raised. $4.45 per cap. 45 teams. 694 registered participants.

The following awards were earned:

  • Regional: Culpeper Media Network received Most Outstanding Media Partnership in the Western Division of Virginia
  • State: Most Outstanding Student Leadership for the State of Virginia went to a young girl who is on committee (and just happened to be a Smart Cookie last year)
  • State: Most Outstanding Leadership in Advocacy
  • State: WE CAN Club (only 8 Relays in the state received this honor...Culpeper was the first)
  • NATIONAL: #6 in the nation! (based on fundraising per capita)
