Teachers love little gifts. It's a fact. |
The typical: the first, the last, the day before winter break, the first picture day, concert day, special days.
Today was one of those days...the day the kiddos present their cereal box projects about an assigned Famous American.
And, just one of those Famous Americans is not other than Thomas Jefferson.
I'm totally bias. I can't help that TJ was apart of frat parties and he was dancing at the Young Alumni party in October.
I am happy to say that one of my kiddos has 2 UVA alums as parents who took the family to the Lawn this weekend, while another student went to Monticello too.

I know y'all are laughing that this is the quote on the bookmark. I wonder what TJ would have thought of Kindles? |
And to be honest, it's just too funny some of the things they say.
Here are some tidbits from some third graders:
- Thomas Jefferson found UVA (like hide and seek).
- Thomas Jefferson gave us macaroni and cheese.
- Thomas Jefferson gave us ice cream.
- Thomas Jefferson read in 7 languages. Student A: "Did he speak tongue?"
- Student B: "My family and I went to Monticello." Student C: "Woowee, how'd ya make it back so fast?" Student B: "We drove." Student C: "How? Monticello and UVA are in Africa."
- Thomas Jefferson's grave is taller than Ms. R.
Moral of the Story: Student E: "And, as we all know after being in this class, that TJ made Virginia Tech." Then child laughs hysterically can yells April Fool's. Today was one of my favorites!
