Dear America,
I find it something that needs to be pondered that...
...a friend of mine who teaches a standardized test year...
...in a school that Teach For America doesn't want to go into...
...who has a Bachelor's degree from UVA (top public university in the nation)...
...who has a Master's degree from Curry at UVA (top 10 in Elem. Ed. according to US News Rankings)...
...called me at 11 PM after leaving her first night at her new job...
...on a school night...
Here's the cool part. In no way, did she complain. She excels at anything she touches whether it's hiking for a month in the wilderness or diving deep in the neediest of the neediest.
She even had more sales than her counterparts who had 50% more tables...on her first night.
We celebrated this.
Moral of the Story: But, a deeper question, is while my friend can celebrate because she's a humble, eager personality. Is America enthralled with this anecdote?
