I guess since I grew up around fields and coaches it was the norm for coaches to spit to the side without missing a beat.
I do find this slightly repulsive and love when people don't spit while I'm standing next to them or talking to them.
However, I do find the ability for people to hold a mound of seeds, then shell them, then eat the seed, and then spit the shell out in one piece is amazing.
I can't even get past step 1. My co-coach made me try today. And, gave me little mounds of sunflower seeds all practice.
I did accomplish no longer spitting a splintering of shell out to spitting a whole shell out.
While I did have a sense of pride in this newfound ability, I still find it repulsive and prefer for the spitting to not occur near me.
Anyway, one day I'll accomplish the full cycle of correct sunflower seed technique.
Moral of the Story: It takes small steps and practice.
