School's Out For Summer

Clap, clap, clap...

We lined the halls as the 5th graders got to be the first to load the buses and take their final walk down the hallways.

My first class was leaving and moving onto middle school. The pride on their faces tripled the pride inside of me. God bless them.

Then, I broke out in goosebumps as we sang 'na, na, na, naaaa, na, na, na, naaaa hey hey goodbye...' and the buses pulled away and all those kiddos waved back and the bus drivers honked their horns. Truly, God bless their little souls.

That, my friends, is what education is about.

So, in honor of the last day of school I thought I'd share some of my favorite spots in my classroom (which is completely torn down, in boxes, and clorox-wiped clean now).

A good friend gave me this...many adults noticed
this poster too...

My area of connecting to life outside these walls...

Even Dove and chocolate know we'll find a cure.

Moral of this picture: teamwork...Us 3 didn't know each other...spent
a week on this Habitat trip...sided a whole house. Teamwork can happen
for something bigger than yourself.

Moral of this picture: no job is too small nor too dirty...

9th grade spanish teacher wrapped up a classic book
and gave me this...he ended up being a professor at UVA,,,
I've kept it because I find it so true.

Bookbags...kids can pack the darnedest things in them.

Notes/cards from students always leaving me laughing

Students' visual depictions of my SOL
motivational quotes

FACE of a Reader Board. God's gift to man.

A little shout out at the Pantry. Wahoowa

A recycled starfish from Ellen's mom's shop in HHI.
Remind me of the story of the starfish.

The students were asked to make a depiction of the classroom.
One Smart Cookie came up with this with a classmtre's name on each ring.

Fathead of Dale JR

Not me...but the scarf...it keeps me a perfect climate.
Moral of the Story: A student asked me to 'try out' for fourth grade next year.
