Can't wait!!!!! When A and W were little, I dreaded going back to school because it meant them going back to daycare.
Once they were school age, I didn't mind. Now that they are grown, I am ready for a middle school fix. It gets lonely with no kiddies around (except for Portis). Now, don't get me wrong-- I will be ready for weekends and living for Thanksgiving and Christmas break!
I helped A get her room ready (loved it!) and D helped me get my room ready--thank you D!
After 31 years of doing this, I still enjoy my profession--the excitement of meeting your 90 new students, starting out new, revamping instruction to meet your students needs, and getting to know the new little people. I teach 6th grade now (through the years I have taught different secondary sciences--Earth Science, Biology, Physical Science, Life Science, and now General Science--I even did Gifted Ed for 9 years). I found as I got older I went younger with my students! I love being their surrogate mother as well as their teacher. Is there a theme here--I like being a Mother!
Teaching is such a purposeful profession.
The dream begins with a teacher who believes in you, who tugs and pushes and leads you to the next plateau, sometimes poking you with a sharp stick called "truth." ~Dan Rather It is wonderful when adults who you taught see you in town and tell them something you said that they still remember. D not only taught, but coached. I cannot tell you how many of his former athletes still talk to him about things he said to them.
In teaching you cannot see the fruit of a day's work. It is invisible and remains so, maybe for twenty years. ~Jacques Barzun
Teaching creates all other professions. ~Author Unknown
Have a wonderful school year and life!!!!!!
