Mom--the Guest Blogger

Hi, I am A's Mom.  I will be the guest blogger this week while A is out of town.  She has gone on a mission trip with our church to Middleburg, NY.  They are repairing buildings in the area that received flood damage from Hurricane Irene last fall.

At the commission of the group this morning at church, we were asked to stand behind one of the team members and pray for them all week.  Of course, her Dad and I stood behind A.   I will certainly pray for the whole team, but one thing no one has to tell me is to pray for my adult children.  I do so continuously!!!!!!!!!  I prayed for them when they were little and as they grew up.  Now that they are on their own--I think I pray for them more than ever.  I think it is more for my inner peace than for them.  A's brother tells me often, "Mom, God does not have time to micromanage your life!"  That is the confidence of youth speaking--I used to be like that MANY years ago.

A friend of mine told me once that when her Mom was on her death bed, she was sharing with her all the praying she had done for she and her sisters throughout the years.  Her Mom said, "You know, I have often wondered what your lives would have been like without my prayers."  I think this was one of the most profound statements I have ever heard.

Sometimes, I worry that I am taking up too much of God's time with all my praying--I pray in the classroom, while driving, while riding the lawn mower, while walking, and etc.,.  I remember what my brother told me--when he was a little boy in church--  the minister told him and his friends who were on the front pew (such good little boys) that you can pray to God for anything--no matter how small and seemingly insignificant.

Please pray for Anni and her mission team this week!!!!!  Thank you and take care!

Just to let you know--I will be blogging on a lighter note as the week goes on!!!!!

Thank you for this precious reminder. I would hate to think how my children's journey, and mine for that matter, would be so different without the power and peace we receive from prayer!
