Welp, today was my birthday. And, I have some strong thoughts on birthdays.
I believe...birthdays should be celebrated. We don't celebrate each other enough in the hustle and bustle of life. Everyone deserves a day to be acknowledged. A day to come up for a breath of fresh air, before diving back under. How life would be so different without certain people in it? Because of each other, we experience so much richness.
And, it's a day of f-u-n.
Here's a mix of tidbits and snapshots:
- We were able to get a good 5-mile run in before it snowed.
- It snowed...inches. We had school.
- Christina asked me around 6:44 AM what I wanted for my birthday if I could have anything. Then, I got on the scale and lost 4 pounds overnight. I immediately called her back.
- H in Cville asked and I joked, "Joe Harris." I'm slightly jealous that Christina met him.
- I now am the owner of an orchid. I feel as though I've adopted a child.
- Daddy subbed at my school. I snuck my class up to his office door to yell "Boo!" We did it. He wasn't in there.
- A Smart Cookie almost dropped something today. I lunged and grabbed it before it hit the ground. The student then told me, "that's good, you still have hand-eye coordination."
- A Smart Cookie described the word delicious as "two words--joy in your mouth." Baha.

I found it ironic they were doing a life cycle activity today.

Oh Daddy, clearing off the windshields of cars.

I look at this and think God is Good.
Moral of the Story: Presents mean something. But, the presence of friends and families means a whole lot.
