Deprivation is not for me. Life is too short. Yes, I'll have a bite of that. Thank you.
I went to Kohl's tonight to get a slip for the dress I'm wearing at Ed School Kat's wedding on Saturday. I thought I'd try the Spanx Creations/Contraptions on 'since I was there' and 'just to see.'
Well, you can mark my words, I will not be caught dead in one of those in my life. I'd rather hold my breath than wear that. I should have known it was going to be a big N-O when my shoulder popped trying to get it on. Then, I felt like the meat of a sausage being squeezed into the wrapper. No, thank you.
Alas, I know why Dr. Quinn, my personal hero, moved to Colorado from Boston (not only to meet Sully), BUT to get away from those God-awful girdles.
Sure, could I lose 10 pounds? Absolutely. But, am I healthy? God-willing, I am. I'll take that over contorting or hurting my body any day.
Moral of the Story: Take it or leave it, this is who I am.
Side Note: A friend of mine (and Ellen's) won the Pepsi Refresh Project. Have you seen all the commercials for UVA or a hottie named Sharif on MTV? I'm so proud of how much he has grown and changed over the past year. We met on a Spring Break Habitat for Humanity trip last year. It was his first Habitat experience. He was thinking about biking across the country. He always asked for advice. Ellen and I were 'mother hens.' He was loads of fun. And, he created my favorite birthday card ever! Look at him now!!!!!
