All I really knew about Charleston prior to today, was that it was in SC and a dance that my Grams speaks of during her glory days at the Pot and Kettle (the local dance hall).
Well, today Ellen and I drove on up to Charleston to discover it. Ellen's had a hankering to visit and I'm always up for a new experience.
Playing tourist and visiting Fort Sumter (which involved a boat ride)...Fort Sumter is where the first shot of the Civil War was fired.
We loved it soooo much that we sat down. I enjoyed looking at the ocean.
Ellen enjoyed 'napping.' I have kept her awake with my people watching comments.
Here's to Charleston Place! Here's to Nan for helping 2 girls out! Absolutely love this place!
We got a knock and they wanted to turn out beds down. We said we were capable of that. So, the woman gave us more chocolate. Girl power!
Enjoying the rooftop pool.
My first time having Margherita Pizza. Delish!
Then we went out for amazing food (seared scallops and grits & lump lobster bruschetta), we ran into a group of Curry girls from UVA (ironic?...love being an alum), walked the streets, went to a rooftop bar, and then found a fountain you can legally go into!
And then we were headed back to the hotel...
Moral of the Story: You will never know what the day holds. Yesterday AM started on the beaches of Hilton Head...the width of the day was packed, but the length of the day ended in a fountain. Who knew?
