My alarm sounded at 3 AM...I was in line at Target by 3:14 AM.
Then, it began...the wait, which was pleasurable due to the temperature, the people watching, the eavesdropping, and Blacktwig.
Then at 4 AM, the doors opened. The line nicely filed in...my Clever Cookies were still better, though.
I had my eye on the prize. I had scoped the ads on the internet. I wanted (not needed) the 40 inch TV for $298.
I beelined for the pallets of TV. I slowed. 2 people in front of my got the last one. I stood. I did not want to tell Only Kat I had been defeated (yes, this crossed my mine). Then, I saw more TVs in the middle of clothes. I moved over. Still, just a tad too late. Next, I opened my mouth and asked if anyone had an extra one that I'd love to have it. (Sidenote: most people come in teams, so their teammates grabbed a few...I was an individual sport.) A lady, about 2 ft shorter than me, whispered for me to meet her in the corner she had extras. I'll see ya there. I got my TV!
I picked up a few other things at Walmart and JCPenney and was home by 5. Then, off to Body Combat and a day spent shopping lightly (I didn't buy anything) with the family. I did make use of amazon.com tonight and picked up 10 gifts for people.
Moral of the Story: I dig Black Friday. I think you have to strategize and plan it out so as to not bankrupt yourself. But, one things was affirmed...it's good to have 'friends in low places.'
