A Pageant in Culpeper

Miss Virginia and I
Last night was the Miss Culpeper Pageant held at The State Theater downtown. The pageant consisted of 6 ladies from CCHS and 6 ladies from EVHS. They had to answer questions, wear a formal dress, perform a talent, and perform a group dance.

I had a very simple job to tabulate the scores and to get Miss Virginia (who was 1st runner-up to Miss America) to the front of the bathroom line (thankfully, EV students were in the bathroom).

One thing is for sure, Cpep is very talented and has some lovely ladies. More importantly, the pageant offers scholarships for the winners to continue their education.

Also, I found it poignant the number of educators from across various schools that played a role in helping the pageant go off without a hitch. Where else will you find the football coach, his daughters, administration, and teachers sitting on a stage floor peeling tape off at 10:15 on Friday night? Small town beauty.

Moral of the Story: Be-you-tiful.
