Mud, Babies, and Zumba

The day had 3 main events with beautiful travel time down backcountry roads in between.

  1. Mud Warrior VA Race with Swimmer Kat, Sarah & Gene (a married couple from my district who I'm friends with).
  2. Baby Shower for Kristen (a young teacher who took me under her wings when I was UVA)
  3. Move it...Move it For a Cure (2 hour party of Zumba and Sh'Bam) with Married Kat and Relay Friends
Snapshots:
Mud Warrior VA- The course was not easy. I felt really out of shape the first mile, but then I realized it was everyone around me who was breathing deeply too as we hiked straight up a mountain drenched in freezing cold mud. I got impaled by a tire due to my unfocus and we love fording a river with a floating lump of yuck that had flies swarming. My favorite challenge was getting over the 12 ft wall with just a rope. Here's to Linda for coming out to watch and laugh at us while filming and taking photos. I like these 2 girls and how we moved through each challenge as a team.

Kristen's Baby Shower-Kristen is someone who next to UVA I feel like prepared me for the life of a teacher. My 2nd year we were matched through UVA and then it was history from there. It was her first year of teaching so I was blessed enough to see 4 years of teaching before I even began. Our personal lives even entwined and it was one of the most life changing experiences I've had.  And, now it's time for a baby something she swore years ago that she'd never have. All I could think of while I set there is 5 years of life involves a lot of changes. She's gone from single to dating (those were fun times) to married to a little girl is on the way. She has no clue what gifts she gave me and I know she'll do the same for her own baby girl.

Move it...Move it for a Cure-I loved this fundraiser for Relay For Life. Nothing better than a studio overlooking Downtown, windows open, music pumping, women dancing, laughter, sweat, and money donated to fight cancer. Married Kat drove in to go. She's a Zumba queen. Me not so much. I may have gone the wrong way a few times and hit her. We've moved from dancing a frat parties to weddings to now fundraisers. Great fun.

Moral of the Story: Happy Day.
