From Jesus's life to today's life...sharing meals is a commonality.
While today's modern society may have different versions of the fellowship meals (no longer are than many covenant meals)...the tradition of sharing food while enjoying one another's company and sharing life remains.
I had 2 surprises today. One at lunch. The second at dinner.
First, Jenna and Fin surprised me at lunchtime for a visit to meet my Smart Cookies. God Bless her soul she always takes interest in my life and has met every class of mine. Fin-man waved to them.
The second surprise was even more unexpected. While sitting in the window at my Uncle's building downtown and working on Relay stuff with Linda, a mutual friend/colleague/Relayer/bright spirit walked by with her family. (Plus, I've always like that she keeps her daughters' hair cut like my Grams cut my Momma and aunts.) Well, low and behold, they'd just eaten at It's About Thyme (yummy) and had BETTER-THAN-CHEDDAR leftover. She graciously forced it on me (I like to think this) and yes I graciously devoured that wonderful dinner.
Jesus knew that eating was a need we all had and could share.
Moral of the Story: Meals together are intended to be much more than physically nourishing.
