On My Bookshelf: Book Reviews

Due to the introduction of Blue Willow, the Kindle, into my life...I have begun to read more.

Honestly, I go in spurts.

But, now I've been able to meander different genres at once.

The following are the books that I just weaved through over the past year. Yes, it took that long.

I highly recommend this book to any mother. It's very deep and it took me over a year to read and process.
However, very few books change my perspective on life. This book added a layer to my outlook.
a
One of Oprah's Favorite things. I got this book for many relatives and friends one Christmas. A light-hearted but deep book. It's a quick read. You can open to any page and read. Any sentence will inspire you to appreciate life or to pick up your mantle and live with more zest.

Quick, light read. In no way is it deep, yet it's entertaining. I've always loved me a good
historical romance. It's a series which makes me think I have connections to the characters.

I love me some Katie. But, recently this book and her new talk show aren't at the top of my to-do list. However, I'll continue to cheerlead her on for creating her own path in life.

Review these = Pass test. Simple Math.

This is the second in a series of two books. It was a good follow-up. It was a good combination of real life with a core  of God's Word. I felt it was more of an affirmation with a touch of challenge rather than being 'preached at.'

Quick read. Beautiful story of a tragedy I remember during my UVA years. An inspirational story about a supreme athlete who had it all going for him until he was hit on a training ride. But, how did he react? He overcame it. It's a true testimony to the human spirt. I personally knew many of the people in the story. Intriguing to see the story in words.

A must read for teachers. I thought it was perfect for where I am in my career. I can reflect on weaknesses and successes. I'm comfortable enough to try new things. Yet, this book reminds you of the simplicities of instruction that remain truth. Great professional book.
Moral of the Story: Thank you Amazon.com for helping me become a reader...again.
