A Rarity of Friendship

I've been blessed to celebrate 15 years of friendship with Only Kat and Jenna. Personality comparisons could be made to the Golden Girls, the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants clan, or the Three Musketeers. We have distinct personalities yet share common truths. We could tell you what is about to come out of the other's mouth. We know each other.

All 3 of us are rarely together at the same time, but we truly support and know what is going on in another's life. It's a friendship where you make it work. You rearrange your schedule so that you can see the other. For example, Jenna totally got up at 6 AM on Wednesday morning to bike with me so that we could share time together due to our tight schedules. It's a triplet of friends that works. True encouragement prospers, while jealousy is nonexistent.

We all started out at Farmington together. Growing up, our paths paralled, crossed, separated, and yet they never wandered from another. Ironically, we all ended up at UVA for different reasons. Mine was academics. Only Kat and Jenna were swimmers, before Jenna committed to nursing.

Now, our lives are growing in other ways. Only Kat is going into grad school. Jenna is getting married in August and is off to PA.

Moral of the Story: This quote is from a card that Jenna gave me for my birthday in 2008. "Good friends are like stars. You don't always see them, but you know they're always there." Only Kat's tweets from this AM...

      1. Great ride with my 2 best friends of 15 years. Gotta get everything ready for my grad party this afternoon now.
      2. Early am bike ride with some old (but great) friends from home :-)
