Dear School Year 2010-2011

Dear School Year 2010-2011,

I truly am thrilled to meet you. You have been teasing me for the past 3 weeks. You may have robbed me of my last 3 weeks of summer. But, the fruits of the those labors are being realized.

The past 2 days, I have not sat down to eat a meal. I have been preparing the classroom (gotta have those pictorial cues), meeting my students (gotta be happy and not productive), creating/putting out fires (gotta have your firesuit on at all times), racing to get things into the laminator (the dust was wiped off after 3 years of not being permitted to use it), and have watched my school transform into a catalyst for learning.

This year will bring new friends (a fellow young teacher ate in my room today!), new challenges (differentiating to the max will occur in Room 23B), learning how to coach outside the classroom (on the field), balancing tons of activities (thank you iCal), discovering more of myself, experiencing what it truly means to be a UVA alumni (wahoowa), walking closer to Jesus, new beginnings with others, tons of laughter, tons of rollercoaster days, tons of arms up moments, tons of shared moments with friends, and tons of prayer.

Tomorrow from 7:45-8:15 this will be playing softly in the background of Room 23B as my new Smart Cookies ascend into a beautiful room filled with joy and learning.

Moral of the Story: School Year 2010-2011~watch out, I'm after you. I'll embrace you.

  1. You are going to have a fantastic year! I can't wait to read all about it!

Your students are lucky to have you as their fearless leader.

(I feel like I've already made a comment saying basically this same thing. Oh well, if I have then I'm happy to be saying it again. And again.)
