Dear UVA,It was a signature win day for UVA football.
20 years ago, UVA football was #1 in the nation. Now, not so much.
But, UVA had its first signature win under the new coach today. And, I was there. And, I didn't even know it was happening until my dad called to asked if I actually made it to the game.
H and I went. It was a beautiful fall day.
I didn't even know it was supposed to be a close match, because UVA came out creaming #22 Miami.
UVA football is what first attracted me to the school and is one of the main reasons that I went to UVA. I grew up knowing that Fall Saturdays meant that Daddy and I would be trekking up 29 to watch the some football.
I knew it was ranked #1 academically for a public school when I applied, but I never even toured the campus or 'grounds.' I even applied early.
I knew it was where I belonged since 1995. I was there to witness UVA's huge upset of FSU to win the ACC title. It was a night game. The place was on fire. I couldn't talk for the days because I cheered so much. I was in love.
In 2005, during my first year, I was there to witness UVA's huge upset of top 5 FSU...again. It was amazing. The place was on fire. It was a full circle moment. A reason why I chose UVA.
So today, reminded me of the joys that UVA football can bring one's heart. After we work and toil all week, there's nothing better than to sit, soak up the fall weather, and cheer for your beloved school.
Sincerely,
UVA Alum
