Tragedy

It was a picturesque August morning.

The sun rose through the steamy air.

Teenagers laced up cleats, filled water bottles, and dug out their gear.

I rode my bike supervising student-athletes as they ran a few miles for tryouts.

At the turn around point, I read a text.

As I sat on a bike in the middle of the country, I read the text of a tragedy in Culpeper.

As feet pounded, a family was enduring a tragedy.

As youth were trying out, three children no longer had that opportunity.

As the picturesque world ticked on, one family's world stopped.

Moral of the Story: I do not understand. But, I have absolute faith in the community of Culpeper and God.

  1. We are not to understand why these things happen. We will always seek answers to things but the answers won't always be known while we are in our physical bodies. Those children are in Heaven and Jesus and the angels are playing and singing with them. They are not crying but laughing and joyful. They are not here on earth to suffer or endure any further bad things. We cannot understand the beauty of heaven with our minds. However, our faith tells us that they are playing on the perfect field with angels. They are playing on a team that will never suffer again.
